As IBM Cloud has been standardizing on Kubernetes and containerized software IBM Cloud
Kubernetes Service (IKS) has become the backbone of IBM Cloud.
As Customers are moving more and more workload into Kubernetes and Openshift environments, the platform is rapidly growing, it is the fastest growing area in IBM Cloud right now.
Our team is working closely with the community and the maintainers of the key components.
We are also working closely with RedHat.
Besides our key customers, most of the other IBM Cloud services are also running on our managed Kubernetes and Openshift platform.
The opportunity is to join this team for skilled individuals who want to be part of building a platform we are proud of and Customers love to use.
We have team members from all around the world, from the United States (Raleigh, NC, Austin, TX, Rochester, MN, San Francisco, CA), United Kingdom, India.
**Your role and responsibilities**
We are looking for developers who have worked with IP networks, virtualisation technologies, understand containers and not afraid of learning Kubernetes to deliver platform for business critical applications for both IBM services as well as Customer deployments.
The successful candidate will work as a Software Developer who is going to be part of IBM Cloud organization.
If you are passionate about solving hard problems and you want to be part of a team who builds the next generation of IBM Cloud, the opportunity is to work on load balancers, Kubernetes internals, Calico and OVN-Kubernetes, Kubevirt, etc.
The potential impact is very high and measured on a global scale.
You will be expected to collaborate with cross-functional DevOps and SRE teams to improve platform reliability and performance, assist with troubleshooting, and contribute to platform documentation and best practices.
A passion for automation, a deep understanding of Kubernetes primitives, and experience with managing hybrid cloud environments are essential to success in this role.

**Required technical and professional expertise**
* Bachelor’s in Engineering, Computer Science, or relevant experience.
* Specifying, building, testing, deploying, maintaining, and supporting your code.
* Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
**Preferred technical and professional experience**
* Kubernetes in general (containers, docker, containerd)
* A good understanding of Kubernetes controllers or Operators
* Kubernetes networking (CNI, OVN-Kubernetes, Calico, Istio)
* Linux networking (iptables, tcpdump)
* In programming: highly preferred Golang
* Bash/Shell
· CI/CD: Tekron, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, IBM DevOps
· Monitoring: Prometheus, Grafana, Sysdig
· Terraform, Ansible
